Theory of Negativity

Great Scientist Sir Albert Einstein, proposed "Theory of Relativity", thus giving a new dimension to the dynamics of Physics.

The simplest illustration of this theory that I can think of was

"when two bodies move in same direction at the same speed, they appear stationary to one another and when they move in opposite direction with the same speed, the relative speed doubles."

My assumption is, the same theory holds true when it comes to emotions or pyscological balance of mind.

The modern day society shows more excitement or pays more attention to negative aspects/happenings of the society.

A remote happening like Haiti earthquake is globally updated through a powerful tool called media. Apparently it plays a pivotal role in arising various emotions such as fear, anguish, love, hate and many more from the viewer.

Media not only became the eye of the viewer, but also a switch to turn on desired emotions.
Unfortunately, this switch has been turning on the negative emotion for a prolonged time.
The pyscological impact it creates, sometimes might turn a good hearted person into a monster.

If one were to believe that there is always some amount of "good" in the form of achievement or charity that happens somewhere in the society, this kind of news doesn't earn the prolonged time to get aired.

Instead any nonsensical news which sometimes is not worth telecasting is repeatedly aired sending wrong signals and turning on unwanted emotions. The recent episode of Governer Tiwari and the way it is being aired raises my doubt of the intensity at which the news has to be aired. As per my understanding of journalism, news has to be reported, it need not be dramatized.

Recent massacre on Reliance outlets in some parts of Andhra is purely by dramatizing and turning ON the NEGATIVITY in the viewer.

The negativity is so much that, one had forgot something called "self restraint"

Unfortunately this doesn't work for a positive cause.
Thousands of screwed up civilized minds come on to the roads and do not hesitate to throw a stone or burn a bus on an "unconfirmed news".
Not even 100 of those same screwed up civilized minds, get inspired from a good person's act.

The negativity is moving at such a great speed, that it is doubling day by day.

One is becoming so biased that, one day even his common sense might be at question.

I feel this because, I'll blame myself with an illustration.

Once I happened to watch a bunch of villagers beating, kicking a person in every possible way.
My immediate reaction was, I started abusing the villagers for being so merciless.

In the next couple of minutes, it was reported that the person had assaulted an old woman.
The next moment, I hated that person to the core and was joyously looking at the villagers battering him for his uncivilized act.

When the microphone zoomed into the person, he was moaning that he actually came for help,
and that the actual guy who assaulted ran away. This kind of raised a doubt on my stance.

My negativity was initially on the villagers, then shifted to the person and finally in dilemma.

I was ashamed at my premature emotions. The seed of negativity, grown by the media, had beat my commonsense to such an extent that I might tend to follow blindly without even bother to follow or wait for the facts

Better Late than Never, if all take a step forward to act with common sense and some level of restraint, there would certainly be better ways to solve the problems.

Tail Piece: When Gandhiji followed non-violence, his probable intention was that the other person would someday feel ashamed for practicing violence.
Violence is so glamorized that an unbalanced mind is getting attracted without understanding the aftermath of it.
